Today, biotechnology shows its effect in every area of life in direct or indirect way, and many various areas like food, textile, paper, energy industry, space technology and health industry have benefit from biotechnology. The rapid development of biotechnology shows its effect on agriculture and the future of world agriculture that directed by this effect is obviously evident. As a part of rearrangement of Faculty of Agriculture and aiming to give education about modern biotechnology and its applications on agriculture by considering the developments in biotechnology, The Department of Agricultural Biotechnology was established in 07.05.2009 as a unit of Namık Kemal University, Faculty of Agriculture.
